Active cyclone approaches Armenia, chief meteorologist warns

An active cyclone is approaching Armenia from the Black Sea region, bringing the prospect of snowfall across the country, warns Gagik Surenian, Deputy Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center.

“Today, Armenia will remain on the outer edges of the cyclone, which means light snow is expected in some areas of the country,” Surenian said on Friday.

From the afternoon of 27 December into the morning of 28 December, the country will be within the cyclone’s active zone.

“As a result, snowfall is expected,” he said, adding Yerevan will also experience snow over the weekend.
