Garik Galeyan, the father of Mkhitar Galeyan who was killed in the 44-day Artsakh war, has been released from custody, his lawyer said on Friday.
In a social media video, lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan said that Galeyan “is fully free” after completing time served under both prison and house arrest.
Galeyan was originally sentenced to 2.5 years in prison by judge Masis Melkonyan. An appellate court partially upheld the sentence, reducing it to 1.5 years. A cassation appeal is still pending.
All days spent in detention prior to sentencing count toward the final prison sentence, allowing Galeyan to be released.
