Azeri FM insists on change of Armenia's constitution for bilateral peace deal

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said on Friday that Armenia would need to change its constitution and fully comply with TRIPP obligations for a pre-signed peace agreement to be finalized.

Presenting Azerbaijan’s 2025 annual report, Bayramov said confidence-building measures included meetings between civil society representatives of both countries. In November, Azerbaijani and Armenian officials met in Gabala to discuss border delimitation, following earlier online talks in January and February.

He noted that the transit of Kazakh grain to Armenia through Azerbaijan had also been permitted. Bayramov emphasized that the finalization a bilateral peace deal would require Armenia to meet the conditions outlined by Azerbaijan.

“The normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia this year has been an important step toward establishing lasting regional peace,” he added, highlighting the contribution of the Washington summit.
