Icy roads and truck restrictions reported in Armenia

Several roads in Armenia are affected by black ice and winter weather, with closures and restrictions in place, authorities say.

In Aragatsotn Province, roads from the Amberd Meteorological Station to Amberd Fortress and Lake Kari are closed. Trucks with trailers are barred from multiple routes, including the Noravan-Ltsen-Tatev, Shinuhayr-Tatev-Kapan, Vanadzor-Spitak, Vanadzor-Dilijan roads, the Vardenyats Pass and the Spitak and Dilijan bends.

Snowfall has hit the Vardenyats Pass, while blizzard conditions are reported in the Meghri Sar area. Patches of black ice are reported on the Abovyan-Charentsavan road, across parts of Aragatsotn and Syunik Provinces and on the Tigranashen roads.

Separately, Georgian and Russian emergency authorities say the Stepantsminda–Lars highway is closed to trucks.
