The criminal case against jailed Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan over alleged calls against Armenia's sovereignty is set to be dropped, his lawyer reports.
In a video shared on Tuesday, attorney Zaruhi Postanjyan said the investigator had informed her of newly obtained results from linguistic and psychological examinations that support dismissing the charges. She noted that the investigator will soon formally present the findings to Ghukasyan and his defense team before submitting a request to the prosecutor to terminate the proceedings.
"This essentially serves as a rebuttal to the accusation that Vardan Ghukasyan allegedly made calls against Armenia's sovereignty,” Postanjyan added.
