Anti-Corruption Committee reveals details of opposition figure's arrest

Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee says Khachik Galstyan, a senior member of the opposition Homeland Party, has been arrested as part of a criminal investigation into alleged vote-buying linked to local elections in Armavir Province.

The inquiry concerns allegations that Homeland Party members offered bribes to voters during the Vagharshapat municipal elections held on 16 November 2025. Local residents are also suspected of accepting payments, the committee said.

Eight people have been detained in total, including a former deputy governor of Armavir Province. One suspect has been placed in pre-trial detention, while three others have been put under house arrest.

The law-enforcement agency added that two more suspects were arrested on Monday on charges of offering bribes, including the party’s secretary general, Khachik Galstyan. Prosecutors have asked the court to remand them in custody.
