Armenian cleric calls for national unity around Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

Father Paruyr Avetisyan on Tuesday urged the nation to unite around the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, stressing the importance of preserving the faith and traditions passed down by ancestors.

“Our people are filled with faith, and it is impossible to divide a faithful nation. Division is the greatest evil,” Avetisyan told reporters outside the cathedral. He added that Etchmiadzin is a sacred meeting place between God and the Armenian people.

The Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates Christmas on January 6.
