Armenia to introduce nursery services for children from six months old

Armenia will introduce nursery services for children starting from six months of age this year, as part of a broader effort to expand early childhood education, Education, Science, Culture and Sports Minister Zhanna Andreasyan said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference, Andreasyan said the development of nursery services would be a key focus of the government’s upcoming programmes. She noted that in 2025 the state launched nursery services for children under the age of two, marking the first such initiative in public preschool education since Soviet times.

Nursery groups are currently operating in several kindergartens in Yerevan and will be expanded to facilities in Hrazdan, Vanadzor and Gyumri, she said.

Andreasyan also highlighted progress in inclusive education, saying more than 1,700 children with special educational and developmental needs are now enrolled in the system, compared with just 91 when the programme began.
