Armenia has recorded a sharp rise in applications for the first phase of its 2026 unified university entrance exams, according to the Assessment and Testing Centre (ATC).
A total of 12,538 candidates have registered, up 933 from 11,605 last year, ATC spokesperson Khachanush Grigoryan told Panorama.am on Thursday.
As some candidates will sit more than one subject, the total number of exams to be taken stands at 23,474, compared with 21,218 in 2025.
English is the most popular subject with 7,224 candidates registered, followed by mathematics (5,709) and Armenian language and literature (4,657). Physics has attracted 963 candidates.
The least popular subjects are geography (79), German (55), French (39), Spanish (3) and Italian (1).
The first phase of exams will be held between 24 January and 8 February, with subjects scheduled on specific dates throughout the period.
