Political analyst: Unconstitutional regime established in Armenia

Armenia is no longer governed by its constitution and has entered an “unconstitutional regime”, political analyst Stepan Danielyan claims.

In a social media post on Saturday, Danielyan argued that since 2018, a series of political actions, including calls to blockade parliament, pressure on lawmakers to adopt decisions, the blockade of courts and forceful changes to the composition of the Constitutional Court, have undermined constitutional rule.

He added that the government’s inability to safeguard Armenia’s territorial integrity and its recognition of the situation as a fact further demonstrated the collapse of constitutional order.

Danielyan criticized Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's recent remarks questioning the authority of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, claiming they amount to "overthrow of the constitutional order”.

“The overthrow of constitutional order should serve as grounds for conclusions,” he wrote.
