Armenian Apostolic Church counts 489 priests worldwide

The Armenian Apostolic Church has a total of 489 priests serving in Armenia and the diaspora, with 250 based in Armenia and 239 serving congregations abroad.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that 16 priests have joined the so-called “church reform” initiative, urging the public to support them. The priests who announced their alignment with the initiative have faced criticism and condemnation on social media.

At the same time, several dozen priests have publicly declared their support for the Armenian Apostolic Church and Catholicos Karekin II, opposing the divisive process within the church.
