Meat and dairy prices continue to rise in Armenia

Food and non-alcoholic drink prices in Armenia rose by 4.3% in December 2025 compared with the same month a year earlier, and by 2.9% from November, the National Statistical Committee reported. Prices increased in all surveyed locations, with the sharpest rises recorded in Yerevan.

Meat prices saw some of the strongest gains. Over the year, poultry rose by 4.3%, while beef prices jumped 11.7%, pork 12.7% and lamb 14.1%. Month on month, meat prices increased by between 0.8% and 7.4%.

Staple foods also became more expensive. Bread prices were up 3.6% year on year, pasta 7.9%, buckwheat 9.4% and peas 10.4%. Monthly increases in December ranged from 0.1% to 1.3%.

Fish prices climbed sharply, with trout up 18.3% compared with December 2024 and 5.3% over the month. In the dairy category, butter and margarine rose by just over 7%, cheese by 4.6% and fresh milk by 4.7%. Egg prices increased 7.2% over the year and 4.3% in December alone.

Imported goods also recorded notable rises. Coffee prices were up 9.5% year on year, cocoa surged by 31.9%, while confectionery prices increased 2.4%. Sugar prices rose modestly.

Alcohol prices increased by 5.5% over the year and tobacco by 8.7%. Vegetable prices, however, were 7.5% lower than a year earlier, despite a sharp 12.5% rise between November and December.

Overall, inflationary pressure in Armenia’s food market remained strong at the end of 2025, led by meat, dairy products and several imported staples.
