ARF to seek alliance for 2026 parliamentary elections

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) will take part in Armenia’s 2026 parliamentary elections with a preference for running in an electoral alliance, authorising party leaders to begin talks with potential partners.

Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a senior ARF official and an MP from the opposition Hayastan bloc, said the decision was adopted at the party’s 29th extraordinary congress following consultations with regional and city branches.

The congress cited heightened geopolitical and security challenges facing Armenia and said preventing the Pashinyan regime from retaining power should be a priority in the 2026 vote, according to a statement read by Saghatelyan.

Under the decision, the ARF’s governing body was mandated to hold active pre-election negotiations on a possible alliance, with the aim of ensuring a significant role for the party and alignment on key policy issues.

“In the coming period we will begin discussions to determine the final format of an alliance,” Saghatelyan said, adding that initial talks would focus on the party’s existing partners, including the opposition Hayastan alliance.

Armenia is due to hold parliamentary elections in June 2026.
