Mediterranean cyclone to bring snow and sharp temperature drop to Armenia

A cyclone moving in from the Mediterranean Sea is set to bring widespread precipitation across Armenia from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday, forecasters say.

Rain and sleet are expected in foothills and valleys on Tuesday, turning to snow across the entire country overnight. Heavy snowfall is likely in some areas tonight, particularly in mountainous regions.

Strong winds of 15–18 metres per second are forecast in higher elevations, with blizzard conditions and poor visibility possible.

Temperatures are expected to fall sharply by 10–13C between 14 and 16 January. As temperatures drop, icy conditions are likely on roads nationwide.
