Armenian opposition MP says ARF arranged arrival of freed prisoner's wife

An Armenian opposition lawmaker said on Thursday that the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) had taken care of all arrangements for the wife of Vicken Euljekjian, a Lebanese‑Armenian recently freed from Azerbaijani captivity, to travel to Armenia.

ARF member and Hayastan faction MP Kristine Vardanyan said in a social media post that the party’s Lebanese branch purchased the ticket for Euljekjian’s wife, Linda, while senior ARF member Ishkhan Saghatelyan oversaw her stay in Armenia. A party member also welcomed her at Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport.

Euljekjian was among four Armenian prisoners released by Azerbaijan on Wednesday and repatriated to Armenia. Local media widely covered his return, with a ruling Civil Contract party MP seen greeting his wife at the airport.

Vardanyan criticized attempts by Civil Contract members to use the emotional scenes for publicity. “Not everything can be turned into PR, especially the issue of prisoners,” she wrote, adding that the ARF had acted quietly “because some things are more important than likes and views."
