LPG prices hit new highs in Armenia

Prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Armenia continue to rise, reaching record highs in recent days.

Motorists report that at some filling stations LPG is now selling for 275-280 drams per liter. Just two days ago, drivers were paying around 240-250 drams, while prices before the latest surge stood at approximately 200-220 drams.

Speaking at a recent press conference, the head of Armenia’s Competition Protection Commission (CPC), Gegham Gevorgyan, said the increase was driven primarily by seasonal factors and logistical disruptions. According to him, demand for liquefied gas typically rises at this time of year, while the temporary closure of the Lars border crossing has also affected supply routes.

He rejected suggestions of price-fixing or collusion in the market, noting that more than 100 companies are involved in importing liquefied gas into Armenia.
