A major fire has broken out at a newly constructed luxury residential building in Abovyan, a town near Armenia’s capital Yerevan, prompting the evacuation of residents.
The alarm was raised at around 09:00 local time on Saturday after a fire was reported near the Eternal Flame monument in Abovyan. Two fire and rescue units were dispatched to the scene, the Rescue Service reported.
Firefighters and police evacuated around 15 people from the building. No injuries have been reported.
Preliminary data indicates that electrical cables caught fire. The blaze has since been brought under control.
Police in Abovyan have launched a probe into the incident.
