A man in central Yerevan slipped and came close to falling into flames as a fire broke out on Pushkin Street on Monday morning. Footage of the incident has since been posted online.
Armenia’s Interior Ministry said the alarm was raised at 9:02 a.m. local time after a blaze was reported on the outer wall of a ground-floor shop. Two fire crews were dispatched to the scene.
The fire spread quickly, consuming festive decorations attached to the shopfront, a coffee machine, wooden structural elements and household items stored on a second-floor balcony. Parts of the building’s ventilation system were also damaged.
Firefighters managed to contain the blaze by at 9:34 a.m. and fully extinguished it at 10:11 a.m., preventing it from spreading further into the shop.
No injuries were reported.
