Narek Samsonyan back to prison after hospital transfer

Opposition activist Narek Samsonyan, co-host of the Imnemnimi podcast, has been returned to a detention facility shortly after being transferred to hospital, according to his lawyer.

Samsonyan was taken from prison to the Izmirlian Medical Centre earlier on Thursday due to health complications, but was later sent back to the penitentiary, lawyer Ruben Melikyan reported.

The transfer came after Samsonyan’s health deteriorated following 14 days on a hunger strike. His legal team has previously warned that his condition had worsened significantly and required immediate medical care.
