Activist claims Armenian officials received bonuses far above legal pay

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received payments in December amounting to about ten times the salary set by law for the post, a public and political activist said on Wednesday, alleging misuse of public funds.

Edgar Ghazaryan made the remarks during a workshop organised by the AntiCor anti-corruption platform, telling reporters that the same practice applied to other senior officials as well.

Ghazaryan claimed the bonuses represented an “obvious waste” of public funds, arguing that officials had used their positions to authorise excessive remuneration. He questioned what additional work, if any, senior figures such as the parliament speaker had performed to justify the hefty payments.
