Armenia extends winter military draft deadline

Armenia has extended the deadline for its 2025 winter military draft from 31 January to 13 February, following a government decision on Thursday.

Officials said the extension was necessary to complete medical examinations of conscripts and to clarify their eligibility for service. The government noted that additional medical checks had created delays, making it impossible to finalise assessments by the original deadline.

The winter draft, announced in November 2025, initially covered the period from 24 November 2025 to 31 January 2026. Recruitment into the armed forces was scheduled between 7 and 31 January.

Authorities stressed that the extension aims to avoid unnecessary deferments or the transfer of medical evaluations to the summer draft, ensuring all eligible citizens are properly assessed before enlistment.
