Ostrava Open: Avanesyan battles past Uchijima

Armenian No. 1 Elina Avanesyan defeated No. 7 seed Moyuka Uchijima in three sets in the Ostrava Open first round, improving to 2-0 against the Japanese player, WTA Tennis reported on Sunday.

The result was Avanesyan's first win since reaching the Iasi second round last July. She played just two more tournaments in 2025 due to mononucleosis and also missed the 2026 Australian swing.
