Catholicos Aram I urges Vance to help release Armenian prisoners

His Holiness Catholicos Aram I has addressed a letter to United States Vice President J.D. Vance, urging immediate action on the release of imprisoned Artsakh leaders and Armenian prisoners of war currently held in Baku, the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia reported on Thursday.

In the letter, Aram I also raised serious concerns regarding the preservation and protection of Artsakh’s spiritual and cultural heritage, appealing for the vice president’s personal intervention on these critical matters.

His Holiness underscored that international law clearly mandates the release of prisoners of war and the protection of spiritual and cultural heritage.

The letter has already been delivered to the Vice President’s office. He is expected to visit Armenia and Azerbaijan in the upcoming week, one after the other.
