Vance's staff confirms receipt of jailed Armenian archbishop's letter

U.S. Vice President JD Vance is in Armenia today, and will visit Azerbaijan soon.

Last week, CSI was able to visit Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan in prison, and bring a signed letter from him to Vice President JD Vance. Vance's staff confirmed receipt of the letter and expressed their thanks.

“CSI appreciates the engagement of the VP's team with us, and we pray for this visit to bring relief to the persecuted,” it said in a statement on Monday.

“We trust that the Vice President will take heed of the Archbishop's message, and:

1. Secure the release of Armenian Christian political prisoners held in both Azerbaijan AND Armenia.

2. Obtain guarantees for the safe return of Artsakh's forcibly displaced Armenians to their ancient homeland,” the organization added.
