Armenia to end cash payments for pensions and social benefits

All pensions and social benefits in Armenia will be paid exclusively through cashless methods starting April 1, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs reports.

Recipients who currently receive payments in cash must submit a request to change their payment method by March 5, 2026. If no application is submitted by the deadline, a bank will be assigned automatically. Requests to change banks will not be accepted between March 5 and April 1.

Bank cards will be delivered by courier only to recipients with mobility limitations, with support from social workers if needed.

The authorities urge pensioners and social benefit recipients who still rely on cash payments to apply for the transition before March 5. Applications can be submitted online via online.ssa.am or in person at any regional office of the Unified Social Service.
