Armenia reports low respiratory infection activity, children most affected

Armenia recorded a decline in acute respiratory infections during the sixth week of 2026, with cases significantly lower than the same period last year. The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that overall activity was 2.2 times lower compared with 2025.

Children remain the most vulnerable group. Nearly 77.1% of all registered cases were among those aged 0-18, with the highest incidence continuing to be recorded in children under four.

Health officials noted that influenza A viruses, including the H3 subtype and the H1pdm09 strain, are still circulating across the country. Other respiratory pathogens detected include rhinovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, metapneumovirus, parainfluenza and adenovirus.
