Brother of former Armenian mayor detained

An Armenian court on Thursday ordered the detention of Gor Hambardzumyan, the brother of opposition politician and former Masis Mayor Davit Hambardzumyan, who is currently under house arrest.

Prosecutors had requested a two‑month pre-custody for him, but the court ruled to impose a one‑month detention instead, the Prosecutor General's Office told Panorama.am.

Hambardzumyan was arrested outside the Criminal Court of Appeals in Yerevan on Wednesday, shortly after a hearing in the case involving his brother.
