Armenian government to tie social credit payouts to e-signed tax filings

The Armenian government will only grant social credit reimbursements to individuals who submit their annual income tax declarations with an electronic signature, Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan says.

At a cabinet meeting on Thursday, he noted that recent legislative changes simplified the filing process by allowing tax authorities to pre-fill declarations based on available data, with taxpayers able to amend them if needed. If no changes are made, the pre-filled form is deemed officially submitted at the deadline.

Under the new rules, social spending compensation will apply only when taxpayers file electronically signed annual income tax reports. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that in 2025, citizens received 6.2 billion drams in social credits based on their 2024 declarations.
