Armenia's ruling party sees no challenger ahead of elections, parliament speaker says

Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party does not see a challenger in the upcoming parliamentary elections, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan said on Saturday.

“At the moment, no obvious competitor is visible. That’s not just my opinion, our discussions show the same,” Simonyan told reporters. He noted that while some parties have declared ambitions and newer groups are targeting younger voters, none stand out as a decisive rival.

He noted that one group claims to be a "surprise, but its statements reveal otherwise”.

He stressed that Civil Contract’s main competition remains internal. “Our biggest and first rival is ourselves – the message we must deliver. Our dialogue with the Armenian people has been effective and will remain so," the speaker added.
