Lawyer reveals details of search at Gagik Tsarukyan's home

Armenian investigators have carried out a search at the home of businessman and opposition politician Gagik Tsarukyan, his lawyer said on Thursday, stressing the probe is not directly linked to Tsarukyan himself.

Lawyer Emin Khachatryan told local media the search was part of a criminal case launched in 2020 against former officials in the Arinj community of Kotayk Province. He said investigators needed to examine several land plots, including one owned by Tsarukyan.

Tsarukyan was questioned as a witness in the case six years ago, but no investigative actions have since targeted him, Khachatryan added.

The case involves allegations of abuse of office under Armenia’s Criminal Code against the former Arinj head. The renewed activity comes shortly after Tsarukyan announced plans to run in upcoming parliamentary elections.
