Young children hit hardest as respiratory infections continue to circulate in Armenia

The incidence of acute respiratory infections in Armenia remained at nearly the same level as the previous week, while showing a significant decline compared with the same period last year, health officials said.

The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported that overall morbidity linked to acute respiratory infections is 1.8 times lower than during the corresponding period in 2025.

Children account for the vast majority of cases. Nearly 81.3% of all reported infections involve individuals aged 0 to 18, with the highest rate recorded among children aged 0 to 4.

Several respiratory viruses are currently circulating in the country, including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), rhinovirus, human metapneumovirus, parainfluenza and adenovirus.
