Anna Hakobyan, the spouse of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, has announced an end to their civil marriage.
In a video statement on Friday, Hakobyan said she was leaving the government residence and moving into rented accommodation. She explained that she has no property of her own, as the apartment purchased with a loan is still under construction.
Hakobyan revealed that she has 5 million drams in her bank account, which she believes will be sufficient to support herself. She added that she does not own a car and will no longer have state security protection.
“Earlier, I referred to our union as a civil marriage, because we had no other form of marriage. I am leaving the government residence,” she said.
