Opposition MP criticizes Armenian leadership amid strikes on Iran

Opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan on Saturday criticized the Armenian leadership for engaging in domestic political campaigning amid attacks on neighboring Iran.

“Large-scale military operations are underway in a neighboring country, with serious regional consequences,” he wrote on Facebook. “Meanwhile, Armenian Security Council officials and political elite are posting selfies and carefree photos as part of their campaign activities.”

The MP stressed that Iran is not only a neighboring state but also a “friendly country” and Armenia’s “southern gateway”, underlining the strategic importance of stability along their shared border.

Abrahamyan warned that the Armenian people and the state would ultimately face the consequences of the Armenian government’s “butterfly politics”.

The United States and Israel are carrying out strikes against Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump posted a video on Truth Social confirming his military had begun “major combat operations” soon after Israel’s Defense Ministry announced a “pre-emptive” attack against Iran.
