Armenia reports low respiratory illness activity in early March

Respiratory infections in Armenia remained at low levels during the ninth week of 2026, according to the country’s National Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Children accounted for the vast majority of cases, with 82.5% of infections recorded among those aged 0–18. The highest rates continued to be seen in the youngest age group, aged 0–4.

Hospital admissions linked to acute respiratory infections stayed steady compared with the previous week, but were 1.5 times lower than during the same period last year. Nearly all hospitalised patients, 95.5%, were under 18.

Health officials noted that several viruses are currently circulating in Armenia, including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), rhinovirus, parainfluenza and metapneumovirus.
