Armenian police seize 18 kg of marijuana, arrest suspect

Armenian law-enforcement officers have seized about 18 kilograms of marijuana and arrested a 25-year-old man in a major drug operation on the Yerevan-Sevan highway.

Police said the suspect was arrested while attempting to place one kilogram of marijuana for distribution on February 23. A subsequent search of his car and apartment uncovered 17 additional packages containing roughly 17 kilograms of the drug.

The man was remanded in custody on February 26 and transferred to a detention facility. Investigators from the Criminal Police and the Investigative Committee continue the probe into the case.
