Armenian MP suggests alternative scenario behind reported drone strike on Nakhchivan
Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has suggested that Iran’s denial of involvement in the reported drone strike on Nakhchivan points to alternative scenarios behind the incident.
In a social media post on Friday, Abrahamyan, who represents the Pativ Unem faction, noted that the attack has sparked debate over several possible developments.
“If this was indeed an Iranian operation, its likely target would have been a U.S.-Israeli military facility,” he wrote.
Abrahamyan argued that Israel has long regarded Azerbaijani territory as a strategic base for operations against Iran, ranging from intelligence gathering to other activities. He added that when Iran has struck U.S. military bases or radar systems in other countries, it has typically acknowledged responsibility.
“Tehran’s denial in this case suggests that other scenarios may be at play,” the MP said. “Apparently, there are countries interested in opening a front against Iran from Azerbaijan and these actions could be connected to that.”
