Expert: Iran seeks to reshape regional status quo in its favor

Iran’s long-term strategy aims not only to withstand current pressures but to alter the regional balance of power in its favor, according to Iran specialist Vardan Voskanyan.

In a social media post on Tuesday, Voskanyan stressed that while Tehran faces “a serious and difficult war”, it also sees opportunities emerging alongside the challenges. He argued that Iran’s strategic outlook goes beyond restoring the pre-conflict status quo, envisioning a shift that would strengthen its position in the region.

“Iran’s vision of changing the status quo includes ending its isolation once and for all,” Voskanyan wrote.

He added that Tehran seeks to demonstrate that prosperity and security in the Persian Gulf can only be achieved if Iran itself is allowed to develop under similar conditions.
