Armenia and Azerbaijan discuss list of goods for mutual trade, foreign minister says

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has announced that Yerevan and Baku are actively discussing a list of goods of mutual interest to expand bilateral trade.

Speaking during a parliamentary review of the government program execution in 2025, Mirzoyan described peace with Azerbaijan as “tangible” and “real”, pointing to the absence of border shootings or casualties. He highlighted that Azerbaijan has opened its territory for Armenian-bound cargo, with imports arriving from Kazakhstan and Russia, while Armenia has also declared its territory open for transit. Armenian companies have already started purchasing oil products from Azerbaijani firms.

Mirzoyan emphasized that the durability of peace depends not on external guarantors but on whether it remains mutually beneficial. “True peace lasts only as long as it serves the interests of both sides,” he said.

Acknowledging that unresolved issues remain, including Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan and the fate of missing persons, Mirzoyan stated that hostility between the two societies is gradually diminishing. He expressed cautious optimism that continued dialogue could eventually lead to full reconciliation, including psychological healing after decades of conflict.

“The path is difficult, but Armenia is determined to pursue it steadily,” Mirzoyan said. “One day, we hope to achieve final reconciliation, including psychological healing between the two peoples.”
