Serzh Sargsyan rejects claims of opposition division, dismisses Pashinyan's war warning

Former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday rejected claims that forces linked to his camp were contributing to divisions within the opposition, insisting his party would not fracture the political field.

“We will never split the opposition,” Sargsyan told reporters after laying flowers at the Komitas Pantheon in memory of former Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan on his death anniversary.

Responding to recent remarks by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who warned of a potential “devastating war” in September if his Civil Contract party fails to secure a majority in the upcoming elections, Sargsyan dismissed the statement.

“They can say whatever they want,” he said.

Sargsyan also stressed that no government has the right to close the issue of the Artsakh Armenians’ repatriation.

He added that the Republican Party of Armenia will hold a congress on April 4, where he plans to address key political issues in greater detail.
