Opposition MP: Azerbaijan appears satisfied with Armenian leaders' Artsakh remarks

Azerbaijan seems to be satisfied with the assurances provided by the Armenian leadership regarding the Artsakh issue, but Baku’s expectations are likely to continue increasing, opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan says.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Abrahamyan, the head of the Pativ Unem faction, questioned the narrative that the Artsakh issue has been resolved.

“If the issue of Artsakh is considered closed, why does it consistently remain at the center of discussions?” he wrote.

Abrahamyan argued that while the Azerbaijani authorities may be content with the current assurances issued by Armenia’s leadership, their expectations are likely to grow over time.

He further emphasized that successive Armenian governments may adopt differing approaches to the issue, either alleviating or exacerbating the conditions faced by the Artsakh people, but cannot eliminate the matter against the will of its population.

“Those who attempt to justify the surrender of Artsakh, the defeat or its recognition as part of Azerbaijan will go down in history as a disgrace,” the MP added.
