Yerevan resident confronts Pashinyan over war warnings, rejects 'peace symbol' map

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan faced sharp criticism from a Yerevan resident during a community meeting on Saturday as concerns grew over his warnings about the possibility of renewed war.

The woman, whose grandson is currently serving in the military, accused Pashinyan of creating a climate of fear by suggesting that war could break out again if he is not re-elected in the upcoming June parliamentary elections. “I am deeply worried about it,” she said.

Pashinyan rejected the accusation, stating that his remarks had been misinterpreted. He argued that opposition forces seek to renegotiate the terms of peace, which he described as highly dangerous. He added that peace has already been established and urged people to protect it.

The woman pushed back, claiming she had heard him predict a major war as early as September if he were no longer in power. In response, Pashinyan clarified, “I said that if those forces come to power, that is my forecast and conviction.”

When the prime minister offered her a “peace symbol” map, she declined, responding, “I don’t want it.”
