Armenian students charged over church incident

Authorities in Armenia have brought criminal charges against two teenage brothers and another man following an incident at a church service in Yerevan, investigators said.

The altercation took place at St. Anna Church during a Palm Sunday mass on 29 March, shortly after the arrival of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, members of his Civil Contract party and security personnel.

According to the Investigative Committee, one of the brothers has been charged with hooliganism and interfering with the lawful official or political activities of a public official. The second is accused of aiding those offences, while the third man faces charges of organising them.

The investigation is underway.
