One dead, five injured in Armenia highway collision

A late-night crash on the Charentsavan-Fantan highway in Armenia’s Kotayk Province has left one person dead and five others injured.

Emergency services said two Mercedes-Benz cars collided at around 11 p.m. local time on 2 April. One driver was killed instantly, while the other driver and four passengers were taken to hospital.

Rescue teams cut power to the vehicles, secured gas cylinders and cleared the road.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
