A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck near Van in eastern Turkey on Saturday morning, the Armenian Interior Ministry said.
The quake was recorded at 9:52 a.m. local time (05:52 GMT), with an epicenter 40 km north of Van at a depth of 7 km. Shaking in the epicentral zone reached intensity level 7 on the MSK scale, according to Armenia’s Seismic Protection Service.
The tremor was felt in Armenia’s capital Yerevan as well as in Shirak and Ararat Provinces, where its strength measured about 2 on the same scale.
