Strong Armenia party slams proposed changes to Electoral Code

Members of the opposition Strong Armenia party, led by businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, held a press briefing outside the Armenian National Assembly on Tuesday to denounce proposed amendments to the country’s Electoral Code introduced by the ruling Civil Contract party.

They argued that the initiative reflects political insecurity rather than genuine democratic progress.

The briefing coincided with a special parliamentary session debating a bill that would prohibit the use of personal names in the titles of political alliances.

Strong Armenia recently formed an alliance named Strong Armenia with Samvel Karapetyan.
