Iran gains edge in negotiations, analyst says

A two-week ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran has shifted the balance of negotiations in Tehran’s favor, according to political strategist and regional security expert Varuzhan Geghamyan.

“If the two-week truce negotiated overnight is upheld, Iran stands to benefit most not only by expanding the circle of negotiating parties but also by raising the cost of renewed hostilities for the U.S. and Israel,” he wrote on Telegram on Wednesday.

He argued that the dynamics of talks have already changed. “The Strait of Hormuz now opens with Iran’s permission, something that did not exist before the war,” Geghamyan noted, underscoring Tehran’s enhanced strategic leverage.

The analyst emphasized that wars are not won solely through advanced weaponry but through resilient systems and determined elites capable of deploying them effectively. “Iran demonstrated this brilliantly over the past one and a half months,” he said.
