Opposition MP criticizes Armenian leadership after fatal police bus crash

An Armenian opposition lawmaker has sharply criticized Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his teammates after a police bus escorting his motorcade was involved in a fatal crash that left one dead and 12 injured.

Garnik Danielyan, a member of the opposition Hayastan faction, said in a Facebook post that he was dismayed the prime minister continued his campaign activities despite the tragedy. “It seemed that after such a tragic incident the campaign should have been suspended, yet the head of the regime continues his tours with a cheerful face as if nothing has happened,” Danielyan wrote.

He accused the government of indifference toward the lives of its own security personnel and linked the incident to a broader pattern of mismanagement and disregard for public suffering. “This is the same group that rejoiced during the blockade of Artsakh,” he said.

The MP also recalled a tragic 2022 incident in which a police car escorting Pashinyan hit a pregnant woman and did not stop to help her.

Danielyan extended condolences to the family of the deceased officer and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. He also urged voters to “close this chapter” in the upcoming June 7 elections.
