Samvel Karapetyan’s wealth rises by $900 million in a year, Forbes says

The net worth of Armenian-Russian businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan increased by $900 million over the past year to reach $4.1 billion, according to 2026 data published by Forbes.

The reported rise in wealth comes amid Karapetyan's detention on charges of calling for the seizure of power in Armenia rejected by his legal team and experts as politically motivated.

Commenting on the Forbes figures, Narek Karapetyan, a board member of the Strong Armenia party, pointed to the increase as notable given the circumstances.

“Do you know many people who have managed to increase their wealth by nearly $1 billion while under arrest?” he said. “Imagine how much he could raise the standard of living in the country if he were Armenia’s prime minister. The time for change has come.”
