Lang Lang arrives in Yerevan for landmark performance

Internationally acclaimed Chinese pianist Lang Lang has arrived in Yerevan for the first time, marking his debut visit not only to Armenia’s capital but to the wider region. The virtuoso musician travelled with his mother and expressed his delight at being in the country and performing for local audiences.

Lang Lang is scheduled to take the stage on 14 April at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. He will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 alongside the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Sergey Smbatyan.

Widely regarded as one of the leading pianists of his generation, Lang Lang has collaborated with many of the world’s foremost orchestras and conductors. He has also appeared at major global events, including the opening ceremony of this year’s Winter Olympic Games.

In 2009, Time magazine named him among the 100 most influential people in the world. He is also the founder of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, an organisation dedicated to nurturing young talent and promoting music education worldwide.
