Supporters of businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan have begun a march toward the Anti-Corruption Court in Yerevan, calling for his release.
The court resumed a hearing in Karapetyan’s case on Friday to consider a defense request for his release. Meanwhile, prosecutors seek a three-month extension of his house arrest on charges of calling for the seizure of power in Armenia. Karapetyan's legal team, experts and opposition figures have dismissed the charges as politically motivated.
The protesters are chanting "Samvel the Prime Minister" and "Freedom".
